But don’t take our word for it, here are some things people have to say about us.
Jane & Zoe are a wonderful duo who work hard to make riding as fun and enriching as it’s meant to be. With a kind and patient approach to the horses and clients, I can’t recommend them enough!

I can’t recommend Champlain Valley Riding Club and Zoe enough! Zoe is extremely patient and great with children. My five year old daughter has weekly lessons and my three year old daughter attends sporadically. Both adore Zoe and are always excited for their lessons. I am extremely thankful to have found this program!

we’ve got answers

We require long pants and boots with a small heel while riding. Gloves are strongly recommended, especially in the winter. We can provide helmets. Your trainer will recommend additional gear and equipment for future lessons.

Before actually riding there is a lot that goes into taking care of the horse. At your intro lesson you will have a tour of the facility, have a full tutorial of grooming and care and learn basic ground skills for handling the horses. During your intro lesson we will also go over our rider handbook, policies and procedures and have a conversation about your goals.
-
We request riders arrive around 30 minutes before their lesson starts to get their horse ready. One of our trainers or staff will assist you with grooming and tacking up your horse. You will then head into the ring and learn the basics of steering and controlling the horse’s movements as well as work on your position as a rider. After your ride you will be assisted with taking care of your horse and cleaning and returning all equipment.

Children can start as early as 3 or 4 years old depending on attention span. Most advancement won’t start until ages 5 to 6 due to fine motor skill development. We will tailor lesson plans to meet your child’s abilities.

Horseback riding has many physical and mental benefits, including improvement of balance, coordination and core strength; additionally, interacting with horses can lower stress and anxiety as well as increase confidence and bravery. Horses teach us to be present and aware of our surroundings, an ever increasing challenge in the digital world.
Horses are very special animals that are highly in tune with humans’ feelings and emotions. Spending time on the ground with your horse is a proven way to strengthen your bond and improve your riding relationship.
